If the 2011 Super bowl hasn't proven that combining Television ads with Internet ads makes for effective marketing nothing will. The top 10 searches on Google this evening included:

  • Chrysler 200
  • Christina Aguilera National Anthem Super Bowl
  • Sweet Child O' Mine
  • Black eyed Peas Halftime Show
  • Star Spangled Banner Lyrics
  • 2011 Beetle
  • Slash
  • Medal Of Honor Recipients
  • GoDaddy.com
  • Is Fergie Pregnant

If these searches didn't sum up highlights of the Super bowl I don't know what did. Please notice that consumers weren't searching football statistics. They were searching music, lyrics, musicians, cars, websites, heroes and gossip. America is searching for what interests them most, and it's tied to the entertainment in the super bowl and some of the most effective advertisements. The advent of Smartphone and laptops is changing what we do while we're in front of the boob tube. The internet has changed the way we look at television.  People are researching the products that are being advertised and the searches during the game prove it solidly. What happens when Google TV goes mainstream? It's time to transform your advertising to adapt to the changing times. The Fortune 500 companies know it and they are capitalizing on it. Now it's time for small business to adapt. Use the same avenues on a smaller scale to fit your budget. Run ads on cable and radio and enforce  and fortify your ads with the right stuff on your website. Entertain, educate and close with a call to action. That's how you win the game.
